Why Work at Joyful Souls Support

At Joyful Souls Support, we believe great support starts with great people. We invest in our team, value every contribution and create an environment where people can grow, belong and make a meaningful difference.

Working at JSS means being part of a team that puts genuine relationships at the heart of what we do. We work alongside participants rather than simply doing things for them, helping people build confidence, independence, connection and greater choice in their everyday lives.

We want our people to grow too. We invest in learning and development, recognise the contribution our team makes and create opportunities for people to build their skills and develop as leaders. Whether you're building a career in disability support or bringing experience from elsewhere, you'll be supported to keep learning and make a meaningful contribution.

We're proudly based in Alice Springs and connected to the community around us. Our work creates opportunities to build relationships with people, families, organisations and communities across the region and contribute to a more inclusive Central Australia.

If you're looking for meaningful work with a capable, values-driven team that combines professional support with genuine care, you'll feel right at home here.

Staff Stories

Shiny smiling in a white polo shirt standing against a plain gray background.

Shining in the Red Centre!

When Shiny moved to the Northern Territory to be closer to family, she was also ready for a new direction. After completing her Community Services qualification and transitioning from management into disability support, she joined Joyful Souls Support in October 2024.

From her first months getting to know participants and learning what matters to each person, Shiny discovered work that felt meaningful. Two years later, she has grown from Support Worker into a leadership role as Senior Support Worker – Activities Coordinator, helping create opportunities for participants to connect, try new things and enjoy more of what matters to them.

A special milestone came in October 2025, when Shiny became Joyful Souls Support’s first female Support Worker to travel interstate with participants, an experience that reflected both the trust she had built and her growing confidence.

For Shiny, the word “Joyful” captures what the work is all about: bringing joy into participants’ lives and finding joy in supporting others.

She values being part of a team where people listen, act, help and share advice, and she reflects on the difference her actions can make in someone’s day.

Most of all, Shiny has found a place where she feels supported to learn, contribute and lead. “Joyful Souls feels like my second family.”

Our Culture and Values

Working together to make a difference

Our values shape how we support participants, how we work with each other and the kind of workplace we want Joyful Souls Support to be.

At the heart of our culture is our philosophy of ‘do with, not for’. For our team, that means working alongside participants, listening to their choices and recognising their strengths, goals and potential. We expect our people to bring care, respect and professionalism to every interaction and to understand that great support is built through genuine relationships.

We also believe great support takes a great team. We value people who communicate openly, support one another, contribute their ideas and work collaboratively with participants, families, colleagues and our wider network.

What we expect from you

We expect our team to live our values in the way they work every day—providing high-quality, person-centred support, respecting participant choice and control, working collaboratively and taking responsibility for providing safe, reliable and professional support.

Being part of JSS also means being willing to learn, contribute and look for better ways to support the people we work alongside.

What you can expect from us

In return, we want our people to feel valued, supported and able to grow. We invest in training and development, recognise the contribution our staff make and create opportunities for people to develop their skills and progress into leadership.

Our Strategic Plan commits JSS to ongoing staff training, annual development planning, staff recognition and pathways into leadership roles.

Our values guide how we show up for participants, our community and each other.
